Catholic schools join ONE Campaign with community service pledges
The nearly 40 Catholic schools in the Diocese of Sacramento will join Catholic schools across the nation to celebrate National Catholic Schools Week, slated for Jan. 26 to Feb. 1. Catholic Schools Week provides an opportunity for schools to put their faith into action through special projects and initiatives that serve the greater community. The time students spend on these activities will not only continue to support the work of Jesus but will also help to meet their 1.5 million hour pledge to the ONE Campaign community service goal.
St. Rose sets sights on fundraising toward parish hall renovation
Parish leadership teams are still hard at work spreading the word about the ONE Campaign and encouraging their fellow parishioners to get involved.
Organizers at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Roseville are determined to reach the parish’s ONE Campaign goal. The parish fair share of 25 percent will support the renovation of its parish hall—a goal set by the parish’s campaign leaders.
"In the tight economy that we still face it is a struggle for people to consider taking on long-term
financial obligations," said Gary Brys, St. Rose layman and member of the St. Rose ONE Campaign committee. "It takes a lot of thought and prayer to get to a place where you feel comfortable committing. Initially this effort was slow, but I think overall it's been well-received. And putting a relatable face on the need—knowing we need to modernize our parish hall—helps people understand how their contributions will make a difference."
