Together we can get it done
As we continue our Lenten journey and prepare for the resurrection of Christ, I would like to express my gratitude for your support of The ONE Campaign. Over the past several months, we have experienced the generosity of the Catholic community. Just about half of our parishes have completed the solicitation phase of the ONE Campaign and we are currently supporting the remainder of our parishes as they prepare for a successful campaign. We have seen many parishes embrace the campaign by hosting receptions, distributing campaign information to parishioners and encouraging all Catholics to participate. Because of your efforts and generosity, we are currently at 50 percent of The ONE Campaign goal. With forty parishes still in the active phase of the campaign, we remain hopeful that we will reach our goal. With that said, one of the key elements of a successful campaign is the importance of encouraging ALL Catholics to participate in the campaign. If 20 percent of all parishioners actively contribute to the campaign, the parish is almost guaranteed to make its goal. To put that into perspective, if every Catholic family in the Diocese of Sacramento were to contribute $250 a year to the campaign over the next four years, we would surpass the $50 million goal which would strengthen the Church and the local parishes for years to come—that’s the power of the faithful.
I am also pleased to share the current results of the collective response to the Bishop’s challenge to commit to and serve 5 million hours each of community service and faith formation. The pledges are impressive and are sure to have quite an impact on our church. Please consider accepting the Bishop’s challenge to GIVE. SERVE. PRAY.
Thank you for your on-going support and may God continue to bless all of the faithful here in The Diocese of Sacramento.
